This yoga holiday is more about having fun and experiencing the practice which will enable you to increase your strength and flexibility both in your mind an your body. It focuses on providing uplifting classes and experiences by the beach allowing you to go home with memories that you will never forget having made friendships that will last a lifetime. It doesn't matter whether you are new to yoga or well established in your practice this retreat suits all levels, abilities and walks of life. 

Tulum is known as the new luxury destination for yoga retreats in Mexico, located on luscious beaches, walking distance to Mayan ruins and only 90 minutes from Cancun airport this retreat will give you the perfect week away in paradise. 

Your yoga schedule will consist of a mixture of upbeat dynamic vinyasa and acro vinyasa classes, mixed in with stand up paddle board yoga and topped off with gentle yin and restorative yoga leaving you feeling renewed, energised and completely blissed out by the end of the week. 

The retreat will be hosted at Amansala, located on the beach at Tulum. We will be practicing in number of outdoor and covered yoga shalas that are fully equipped for our practice. We will also enjoy the bliss of beach yoga on the perfect white sandy beaches overlooking the stunning turquoise sea creating the perfect natural yoga studio to move, learn and breathe. Each day you will wake up to the sounds of the sea, enjoy an energetic yoga class (or SUP Yoga) followed by a fresh, healthy breakfast. Your day will consist of lounging on the sun beds, swimming in the sea or perhaps enjoying a massage or spa treatment and will finish with a restorative or yin yoga practice followed by dinner.

The Hosts

Lorena 

An Austrian native who grew up in Texas, Lorena combines her love of yoga with her day job as an Occupational Therapist and shares playful, uplifting and dynamic vinyasa, yin and acro vinyasa yoga classes across London & in her European retreats. She is a traveller through and through and her heart filled classes and retreats leave all of her students feeling refreshed, stronger physically and mentally and full of love! Lorena's welcoming personality will leave you feeling immediately at home in her presence - join us and you will see exactly what we mean! 

Kat 

Kat shares luxury weekend and week long yoga retreats around the world incorporating mindfulness, stand up paddle board (SUP) yoga, vinyasa yoga and yin yoga. She has been teaching SUP Yoga since 2013 when she became one of the first qualified instructors in Australia and has since travelled to the Isle of Wight, the Maldives, Croatia and home to Noosa Heads again teaching the practice. She is trained in vinyasa, SUPyoga, yin yoga, Prana Flow yoga, mindfulness meditation and holds a yoga therapy qualification. Kat prefers to share experiences through retreats and weekend getaways as she believes that it's the best way to truly get to know your own body and mind and to experience the best of what yoga has to offer. 


The Location

Tulum is a resort town located on Mexico's Caribbean coast, its long stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise sea make this the perfect beach location for a yoga retreat. 

A short walk away from the retreat accommodation is a world class Boga SUP Yoga floating studio where we will be practicing SUP Yoga and also where you can hire or sign up for various different water sport lessons.

Tulum is also the location of a 13th century Mayan archaeological site which is part of a large national park that can be explored by bicycle or on foot. 

Tulum has a relaxed atmosphere where sleeping in the shade of your umbrella and reading a good book all day is encouraged. With its relaxed bohemian feel, and one main street along the beach it provides the perfect backdrop and location for a relaxing and revitalising yoga holiday. 

Just three miles from the beach where we are staying is the main town of Tulum where you can find all of the normal amenities you will need including pharmacies, local supermarkets, restaurants and shops.

The Accommodation

Amansala Resort & Spa has two parts, the Grande & Chica which offer beautiful triple, double and single occupancy rooms. All rooms are located on the beach with some offering sea views, others have garden views and some with a combination of both. At Amansala there are a number of yoga shalas a short distance from your room so that you can roll out of bed and onto your mat and you'll have the sound of the ocean following you wherever you go. 

The price of the retreat is based on double share accommodation (two double beds in one room) in the Chica part of the resort, each person will have their own double/queen/king bed in the same room sharing a bathroom. If you wish to have your own single accommodation the additional supplements range from $200 USD to $700 USD depending on whether you want a sea view. 

Amansala is known for hosting retreats and regularly hosts international teachers and groups of up to 50, it's food is fresh and made with local produce and three meals a day are provided as part of the retreat price.^ You will never go hungry on this retreat and with decadent clean, and fresh meals you will always be going back for seconds! 

Luckily, this retreat will be capped at a small number of participants (maximum 15)  so that you are guaranteed one on one time with Lorena and Kat expanding and strengthening your yoga practice.


Yoga / Activities / Schedule 

This retreat has been created for anyone who wants a luxury retreat getaway that caters for all levels of fitness and ability. We believe that yoga as a practice should be accessible to everyone and aim to create a fun, luxury experience so that you can build your own foundation to take home with you. 

For a bit more insight into the different practices of yoga that we will be sharing with you, see the descriptions below. In addition to this we will also be incorporating pranayama, meditation and mindfulness giving you relaxation and re-energizing techniques for you to take home with you. 

Vinyasa Yoga: 

A vinyasa yoga practice is a great way to help you to work towards a moving meditation in before finding a seated meditation practice. It can be strong and soft, dynamic and slow and every class is different meaning that you get an all round workout that is always changing! Vinyasa yoga is for everyone and sets a great foundation for moving with the breath. 

Acro Vinyasa: 

AcroVinyasa is a practice that welcomes all levels of 'yogi' and non-yogi's alike - it combines a solo vinyasa warm up on your mat with a partner sequence of 'air-asanas'! Are you ready to fly? Most people ask, "but what if I fall?", well darling what if you fly??!! You're never too old or too young, too strong or to weak to learn how to fly. Plus we will have spotters there to have your back, making you feel invincible before you know it. This is perfect combination of earth and air, as you flow through the posters with plenty of bloopers along the way you're bound to get hooked! Feed your curiosity with a completely new practice to take home to your friends and family. 

SUP (Standup Paddleboard) Yoga:

Combining stand up paddle boarding and yoga this practice is full of sunshine, smooth movements, fresh air and the bonus of experiencing the feeling floating - literally! SUP Yoga has become the summer go-to yoga activity helping you to increase your balance, strength and intake of fresh oxygen! Our classes will be in our very own secluded & private Cenote which is a short bicycle ride from our retreat accommodation, Kat will be guiding you through this practice and helping you to let go of any fear of the water that you may have previously had. 

Restorative Yoga:

Take the time to chill out, propped up on bolsters, pillows, blankets, towels - basically anything that allows the body to feel completely supported so that you can literally let go of all tension that you are holding in your muscles. Restorative yoga is the perfect compliment to a day of activities and sunshine and will leave you sleeping like a baby! We may also through in a bit of Yoga Nidra for good measure ;) 

Yin Yoga: 

Are you ready to slow down? Perhaps you want to increase your flexibility as well as improving your yoga practice on this retreat? Yin Yoga is based on a range of seated and supine (lying down) postures held for between 5-10 minutes each. This practice is not simply physical it also encourages you to take the time out in each posture to simply feel everything that is happening within rather than thinking about everything that is to come. It asks you to be present but to let go which is not always as easy as it seems.

How to get there

Depending on where you are coming from it is recommended that you fly into Cancun Airport where our group transfer will meet us. Amansala is located approximately 90 minutes from Cancun Airport. If your flight arrives in before the group transfer and you require a separate private transfer or if you are staying in Cancun Hotel district and want the group transfer to pick you up from there please let us know when you are booking. 

If you are coming from Australia - it is likely you will need to fly into the U.S. and then onwards to Cancun, from London there are direct flights most days on Virgin Atlantic (make sure to book soon to get the best price). If you are coming from the U.S. there are a number of airlines and airports to choose from so that you can fly directly into Cancun.
