Acai Balance Bowl

For those of you, like me, who don't have time to whip up a smashed-avo-with-poached-eggs-and-dukka-on-organic-rye-and-a-side-of-micro-herbs each morning this recipe is for you. 

Simple, easy, and whipped up in 5 minutes with the help of some pre-frozen fruit, smoothie size acai packs and a nutri-bullet, this is my go to breakfast / brunch / lunch when I don't have time to spend cooking.

To make it a little more enticing for those of you who want that little extra boost as part of your breakfast, I add 2 main supplements to my Acai Balance Bowl - Maca Powder and Nudest Good Green Stuff (and have explained why below). 

But without further ado, this is my recipe of the week, the Acai Balance Bowl: 

  • 1 x Amazonia Acai frozen smoothie sachet;
  • 1 x banana (I often substitute for frozen mixed berries);
  • ¼ cup of almond milk or coconut water (the liquid helps to blend the frozen ingredients);
  • 1 teaspoon of Nuzest Greens Powder (greens to boost my immunity and health, it has a slight sweet flavour which you’ll notice in the bowl);
  • 1 teaspoon of Loving Earth Maca Powder (hormone balancing); and
  • 3 tablespoons of BSKT Veganola to finish.

Put everything except the Veganola in a strong blender or a nutri-bullet and blitz until combined, you may need to let it sit for a minute or two to defrost slightly. Top with your Veganola and breakfast or lunch is sorted!

Maca Powder

Maca Powder is a Peruvian specialty and as explained by Adele from VegieHead is 'reputed to have positive effects on hormones, mood and libido' hence the 'balance' bowl reference! I use this to help keep my skin glowing, and my body and emotions balanced, but make sure you only put a teaspoon in at the most until you are used to this potent superfood.
